Change a member’s role in your organisation
In ClearHost: Profile → Members.
Where: Profile → Members in ClearHost
You need: permission to edit members in the organisation.
#Steps
- 1
Open "Members" from your profile menu. The table lists Name, Role, Properties, Last Active and Actions.
- 2
Find the person and open the dropdown in their Role column. It offers Admin, Property Manager and Property Staff.
- 3
Some rows show the role as plain text with no dropdown at all: the Owner row, your own row, and every row if your role may not change roles.
- 4
Pick the new role. A Change Member Role box appears naming the person and both roles — click Confirm to apply it, or Cancel to leave things alone.
- 5
The role applies across the whole organisation, not to one property. Admin covers everything and reaches every property without being assigned to any; Property Manager and Property Staff only reach the properties they have been given.
- 6
Changing a role also wipes any per-person tweaks made through "Edit permissions" in the row menu. The person drops back to the plain defaults of their new role.
#Good to know
Only owners and admins can do this, and the server refuses the change even if a dropdown looks clickable. The owner’s role cannot be changed here and neither can your own — handing the organisation to somebody else is the Transfer tab under organisation settings, and only the current owner can start it. An admin may re-role another admin, but only the owner can remove one.
