Set your check-in times, guest limits and house rules

In ClearHost: Property → Property Rules.

Where: Property → Property Rules in ClearHost
You need: permission to create policies on this property.

#Steps

  1. 1

Select the property you want to work on in the top bar.

  2. 2

    Open "Property → Property Rules".

  3. 3

The rail down the left side jumps between five sections — "Basic Rules", "Internet Access", "Parking Policies", "Pet Policies" and "Other Rules". They are all on one page; the rail only scrolls you to them.

  4. 4

"Basic Rules" is where the front desk gets its default arrival and departure hours. Check-in (Time in I.S.T.) and Check-out (Time in I.S.T.) are each a from-and-to pair, with Self Check-in, Max Count of Guests, Only Adults, Children Max Age and Infant Max Age beneath. Switch Only Adults on and the two age boxes grey out — an adults-only property has no child ages to set.

  5. 5

Many fields stay locked until their parent is set, and a new property starts with every parent switched off. Coverage, Free Internet Access and Cost of Internet Access unlock only once Type of Internet Access is something other than Not Available; Free Parking and Cost for Parking once Parking is; Non-Refundable pet fee and Refundable Deposit once Pets Policies is something other than Not Allowed; and Hygiene Partner link and Cleaning Practices Description once Enhanced Cleaning Practices is on. Tick Free Internet Access or Free Parking and the matching cost box greys out again.

  6. 6

"Other Rules" covers "Smoking Policies", "Enhanced Cleaning Practices", "Hygiene Partner link" and "Cleaning Practices Description". The description box counts up to 200 words.

  7. 7

"Save Changes" sits in the bar pinned along the bottom of the screen and is greyed out until you change something. Click it and a box asks you to confirm: Apply Changes writes the rules, Keep Editing puts you back in the form.

  8. 8

Reset, beside it, does not throw your work away on the spot — it opens the same kind of box, and only "Discard Changes" puts the stored rules back, while "Keep Editing" leaves your edits alone. ClearHost also stops you navigating away with unsaved changes and offers you that same pair.

#Good to know

There is one set of rules per property, so this screen creates them the first time and edits them from then on. Only an owner or an admin can save it — a manager or a member of staff can read the rules but the save is refused. The check-in and check-out hours set here are what the Front Desk uses as its defaults.
