Choose which booking alerts you are sent
In ClearHost: Property → Notifications & Alerts.
Where: Property → Notifications & Alerts in ClearHost
You need: permission to edit settings on this property.
#Steps
- 1
Select the property you want to work on in the top bar.
- 2
Only an owner or an admin can save this screen. A manager can open it and tick the boxes, but the save comes back as an error and nothing is kept — so if you are a manager, ask an owner or admin to make the change.
- 3
Open "Property → Notifications & Alerts". What you set here is your own inbox, not the hotel’s: each person keeps their own choices per property, so switching Cancellation off stops your emails and leaves everyone else’s alone. Anyone who has never touched this screen is sent in-app notifications only.
- 4
"Email notifications" at the top is the quick list — "New reservation", "Cancellation", "Modification", "Sync failure" and "Overbooking". Ticking New reservation, Cancellation or Sync failure there also ticks Email in the matching block below, and unticking travels the same way, so use whichever of the two you find easier.
- 5
"Sync failure alerts", "New reservation alerts" and "Cancellation alerts" each offer Email and "In-app" separately. Clear both boxes in a block and you are not told about that event at all, by any route. Modification has no block of its own — its checkbox at the top is the whole setting, and it is email-only.
- 6
"Overbooking alerts" is the one block that reaches past your own inbox, so read it twice. Turn its switch on first — the dropdown beside it is faded and refuses clicks until you do, which is what people usually run into here. The choices are Notify Admin, Notify Manager and Notify Both, and they narrow who is told about an overbooking to owners and admins, to managers, or to all three.
- 7
That routing is read off the property rather than off you: ClearHost takes the first saved routing it finds for the property, so it is not a personal choice. While a routing is in force, everyone in the chosen roles gets an overbooking notification in the app whether or not they switched Overbooking off for themselves, and turning your own switch off then only stops the email. If nobody has set that dropdown, overbooking follows the ordinary rule and your switch does silence it.
- 8
Click "Save Changes" at the bottom right. It stays greyed out until something changes. Only people who can reach this property are ever sent anything, and staff are not sent the alerts this screen covers.
#Good to know
Alerts are raised from channel activity, so they follow bookings arriving, changing and cancelling rather than anything typed in by hand at the front desk. There is no SMS route despite the wording used in some older help text — email and in-app are the only two channels ClearHost delivers on today.
