Cap how many bookings a discount code is good for

Where: Booking Engine → Coupons in ClearHost
You need: Booking Engine on the property's plan, and permission to edit channels on this property.

#Steps

Select the property you want to work on in the top bar.

Open "Booking Engine → Coupons", open the three-dot menu at the end of the code’s row and choose Edit.

Click Next twice to reach "Restrictions", then scroll to "Usage Limits" at the very bottom of that step.

"Total Usage Limit" shows "Unlimited usage" unless a cap has already been set on this code. Choose Limited usage and type the number of bookings the code should be good for into the box that appears beneath it — set it to 50 and the fifty-first guest who tries the code is told the limit has been reached.

Leave "No per-user limit" ticked under "Usage Per User". The figure you can set there is saved on the coupon and shown on its Details tab, but ClearHost does not check it when a guest applies a code, so it will not stop the same guest using the code twice.

Click "Update Coupon". The Usage column in the list now reads the number used against your cap rather than against an infinity sign.

When the count reaches the cap the badge on the row changes to "Limit Reached" and the code stops being accepted. Nothing is deleted — raise the number and the code works again from the next booking.

To watch it as it runs, open the coupon and read its "Details" tab: "Used Count" is how many bookings have used the code and "Remaining" is how many are left before it closes itself.

#Good to know

The count only rises when a booking that carried the code actually goes through, and ClearHost increments it under a condition that refuses to step past the cap, so two guests finishing at the same moment cannot both take the last one. Switching back to Unlimited usage removes the cap without disturbing the bookings already made. Usage Per User, New users only and Stackable with other coupons are all stored and displayed but not yet acted on at booking time.
