Create a discount code for direct bookings
In ClearHost: Booking Engine → Coupons.
Where: Booking Engine → Coupons in ClearHost
You need: Booking Engine on the property's plan, and permission to create channels on this property.
#Steps
- 1
Select the property you want to work on in the top bar.
- 2
Open "Booking Engine → Coupons" and click "Create Coupon". A three-step form opens: Details, then Applicability, then Restrictions.
- 3
On "Details", type the code guests will actually enter into "Coupon Code", or click "Auto Generate" to have ClearHost invent a code that is not already in use here. Add a Coupon Name for your own reference, choose a Discount Type of Percentage or Fixed Amount, and type the figure in the box below it — the % or ₹ sign on the right follows the type you picked. Leave Status on Active unless you are building the offer ahead of time.
- 4
Click Next. On Applicability, Applicable On offers Booking Engine and Check-in, and at least one has to stay ticked or the form will not move on. Which one you tick is recorded on the coupon and appears on its Details tab, but it does not currently restrict anything — a guest can only enter a code on your own booking page, and it is accepted there whichever box you ticked. Applicable Days arrives with all seven days ticked; untick any day the offer should not run on, but you cannot untick them all.
- 5
The "Validity Dates" field arrives already filled in with today and the day thirty days from now, so open it and pick the first and last day you actually want in one go — that window is what decides whether the code works, and days in the past cannot be chosen. Under Rooms and Rates Applicable, leave everything unticked to let the code apply to every room and rate, or tick only the room types and rate plans it should be limited to.
- 6
Click Next again for "Restrictions" — minimum and maximum stay, blackout dates, and a cap on the number of bookings the code is good for. Every field here already has a sensible default, so you can leave the whole step alone on your first coupon and come back to it later.
- 7
Click "Create Coupon" to finish. The code appears in the list straight away, and its badge is worked out from what you entered: Active if the validity window has already started, Scheduled if you dated it to start later, and Disabled if you set Status to Inactive on the first step.
- 8
Before you advertise it, make sure guests can actually type it in: on the Live Link screen, under "Booking Settings", "Enable Promo Codes" has to be switched on. With it off there is no box on your booking page for a code at all. Open in ClearHost ↗
#Good to know
Codes are unique per property, so the same wording can exist on two of your properties without clashing, and a duplicate inside one property is refused when you save. Applicable Days is checked against the day the guest applies the code, not the nights they are booking, because the booking page does not send the arrival date to the coupon check — a weekdays-only code is refused on a Saturday even for a midweek stay. Coupon Visibility, Auto Apply, New users only and Stackable with other coupons are saved on the coupon and shown back on its Details tab, but nothing on the booking page acts on them yet.
