Get the embed code to put the booking engine on your own website

In ClearHost: Booking Engine → Live Link.

Where: Booking Engine → Live Link in ClearHost
You need: Booking Engine on the property's plan.

#Steps

  1. 1

Select the property you want to work on in the top bar.

  2. 2

Open "Booking Engine → Live Link".

  3. 3

Find the "Embed Code" card — in the right-hand column on a wide screen, at the bottom of the sections on a narrow one. It only exists once your booking page is live; if you cannot find it, the Booking Engine Link card on the same screen will be showing Inactive, and the page has to be published before there is anything to embed.

  4. 4

Pick one of the four choices. Button Link puts a Book Now button on your page that opens your ClearHost booking page in a new tab — it is the default and the one that can never break your site’s layout. Inline Embed puts the whole booking engine inside your page in a frame. Popup Widget adds a floating Book Now button in the bottom-right corner of whichever page it is placed on, and opens the booking engine over your site when clicked. Search Form puts just the date picker on your site, so guests choose their dates there and land straight on your available rooms.

  5. 5

The dark box underneath always shows the code for whichever choice is currently selected, so pick first and copy second. Click Copy in the top-right corner of that box; it changes to Copied! and the code is on your clipboard.

  6. 6

Paste it into an email to whoever looks after your website and tell them where it goes: "Button Link" and "Popup Widget" can sit anywhere in the page, while "Inline Embed" and "Search Form" have to go exactly where you want the booking form to appear. You do not install anything yourself — this is a job for your web person, and it is the same one-off snippet whichever they use.

  7. 7

Your booking page address never changes once it has been created, so the code you hand over keeps working for good. If you ever unpublish the page, the embedded booking form stops loading until you publish it again.

#Good to know

Reading and copying the snippet changes nothing, so anyone who can open the page can fetch it; publishing the page in the first place is what needs an owner or admin. The snippet is built from the web address you are currently on, so copy it from the address your team normally uses for ClearHost rather than from a test one, or the code will point somewhere your guests cannot reach.
